Hi! We recently posted a summary of all the excellent new features on the Showcase Workshop editing engine, going live on WEDNESDAY, 5th OCTOBER. You can check that out here.

This post covers one of the more minor but still very useful features - the ability to replace a file or background straight from the hotspot without "removing" it first.

This has the potential to be a big timesaver when you’re making a lot of edits to a showcase or showcases.

Let's take a closer look.

THREE: Replace file or background immediately.

Essentially, you’ll see the new replace option any time you select a file or slide background:

Clicking that ‘Replace’ option will open up the filepicker like you’re used to, and you can pick the replacement file then and there.

The existing method has you first remove the file:

Then you have to ‘Add content’ again, then select type of content…

And then pick the file. So we saved you a bunch of clicks right there.

The only thing to keep in mind here is that if the types of content you’re trying to swap out are different - e.g. if you’re trying to replace a video with a PDF, not another video - then you will have to go the old route of ‘Removing’ that file first. Otherwise, swap away! Videos for newer quicker videos; PDFs for newer branded PDFs - all much quicker and simpler.

If you want to check out some of our other great new features, head to that summary we mentioned earlier. If you want more details on this from a real human, ask the friendly bunch at support@showcaseworkshop.com.
